COLOMBIA: Government rejects startling UN claim

A 5 December report by the United Nations (UN) Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) highlighted significant institutional barriers in the search for disappeared people in Colombia. However, these insights were overshadowed by the claim that there are 20,000 unidentified bodies being stored in an airport hangar in Bogotá. President Gustavo Petro’s government denied this claim, which has since been defended by the UN.
