BOLIVIA: Incensed Morales threatens protests

Bolivia’s former president Evo Morales (2006-2019) is pinning his comeback hopes on the country’s overdue judicial elections, which were supposed to take place last year but have been postponed due to legislators’ inability to agree on a shortlist of candidates. Morales is hoping that a newly elected constitutional court (TCP) might overturn the December ruling which declared that repeated re-election is unconstitutional [WR-24-01]. To that end, his supporters are threatening to launch an indefinite campaign of roadblocks from 22 January unless the current TCP steps aside and judicial elections are called.
