MEXICO: Morena divided, opposition united?

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has denied there is any possibility of a rupture in his ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena). This comes as infighting and accusation-slinging has beset the internal selection process for Morena’s 2024 presidential candidate. Although López Obrador and the party’s leadership deny any real problems are afoot, the divisions look likely to grow as the final selection date draws closer.
