The government led by President Mauricio Macri submitted its first draft budget to Argentina’s national congress on 15 September. The draft budget focuses on stimulating domestic economic growth after a tough year of adjustment for Argentina, and with one eye on the midterm legislative elections due in late 2017. To that end, the finance minister, Alfonso Prat-Gay, has revised his budget deficit targets so as to allow for more spending room over the coming year.
