PERU: Humala the wrong side of 50

President Ollanta Humala turned 50 on 27 June, but his celebrations after reaching that landmark were tempered by the news that his approval rating is now well below 50%. Humala used his birthday to reaffirm his commitment to carrying out a “great social transformation”, but the latest opinion poll in the national daily La República suggests that he will need to accompany those words with concrete actions to win over disillusioned supporters.
