VENEZUELA: Venezuela tinkers with inflation data

On 3 March the central bank announced that it would no longer publish the Caracas consumer price index. This is the longest running inflation index, dating back to 1950, and suggests that the government is trying to muddle the grim inflation figures by breaking the historic series.
