In brief: GFCF rises in Mexico

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has announced that gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) increased by 6.0% in year-on-year terms in July and by 1.4% in monthly terms. This follows a 1.3% monthly increase in June and 0.4% contraction in May. The annual increase follows those of 5.8% in June and 2.4% in May. The annual rise in July was the result of a 6.9% increase in construction investment, while investment in equipment and machinery was up by 4.9%. The monthly increase was driven by a 4.5% rise in investment in machinery and equipment, which was somewhat offset by a 1.5% drop in construction investment.
