ECUADOR: Foreign minister replaced in government restructuring
Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa has once again taken a scalpel to the machinery of government, slashing the number of ministries from 14 to 10 after previously reducing them from 20 to 14 in July 2025 [WR-25-30]. As well as fusing various ministries, Noboa also replaced his foreign minister, Gabriela Sommerfeld, who had been in the role since he took office in November 2023.
