CUBA: Another big gesture to Washington
Cuba’s Partido Comunista de Cuba (PCC) government recently announced one of the biggest mass prisoner releases in recent years, with 2,010 prisoners to be pardoned. Coming less than a month after Havana revealed that 51 prisoners would be freed [WR-26-11], the announcement was made several days after a Russian tanker delivered the first oil shipments to Cuba in three months after Washington eased its oil blockade [WR-26-13], which has applied unprecedented pressure to the island.
