COSTA RICA: Fernández closes in on victory

The biggest question surrounding Costa Rica’s presidential elections is whether Laura Fernández will win in the first round on 1 February or be required to contest a run-off. While there are still a large number of undecided voters in the most recent electoral survey, Fernández, the continuity candidate of President Rodrigo Chaves, enjoys what would appear to be an unassailable lead over her closest rivals.
