José Antonio Kast and Jeannette Jara took part in their last televised face-to-face presidential debate on 9 December, five days ahead of Chile’s second-round run-off ballot, which is due on 14 December. The debate was a tense affair with both candidates ducking and weaving and occasionally landing some punches. The majority of analysts concluded that the result was a tie; but given the difference in polling numbers, a tie must be interpreted as favourable to Kast.
