DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: General strike for better services

 On 9 July the Foro Social Alternativo, FAS, strike committee described their actions as a "success" following a days general strike supported "militantly" by 90% of the population. Spokesman Ví­ctor Gerónimo warned that the forum would continue its protests if the government does not accede to its demands. The FAS will decide its course of action in an assembly scheduled for 28 July.
