*Activists and disabled people have taken to the streets across Argentina to protest against President
Javier Milei’s
recent veto of a bill that would have increased disability benefits, as well as bills to raise pension payments. According to local disability rights group, Foro Permanente para la Promoción y la Defensa de los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad, over 10,000 people protested across the country against the veto, with demonstrations talking place in cities in 19 provinces, including Buenos Aires, Catamarca, Córdoba, Santa Fe, and Tucumán. The group called on opposition legislators in both chambers to obtain the necessary two-thirds majority to reverse the veto.
