*Honduras’ largest private sector lobby Consejo Hondureño de la Empresa Privada (Cohep) has released a new bulletin highlighting that Honduras has an 82.6% rate of informal employment, below only Guatemala (83.2%) in the sub-region. According to the bulletin, El Salvador has the third highest rate of informal employment (66.5%), followed by Nicaragua (63.0%), Panama (58.7%), the Dominican Republic (54.7%), and Costa Rica (37.4%). The report warns that “
informality remains one of the main brakes on productivity in the region”, adding that it “
directly affects millions of workers, exposing them to higher levels of vulnerability and precariousness”.
