Elected to the UN Security Council

Colombia was elected for a two-year term on the United Nations (UN) Security Council on 3 June as one of five new non-permanent members selected by the UN General Assembly. President Gustavo Petro’s administration will use this platform to try and influence debates on conflict and human rights issues, with the war in Gaza set to be a key priority.
