Argentina’s President Javier Milei will go head-to-head with former president Mauricio Macri (2015-2019) in elections on 18 May. Milei’s far-right La Libertad Avanza (LLA) is bidding to end the stranglehold on power of Macri’s right-of-centre Propuesta Republicana (PRO) in the City of Buenos Aires (Caba) legislative elections. There is much more at stake than seats in the Caba legislature.
