BRAZIL: Lula shores up Japan relations

Amid global concerns over the protectionist stance of the US under President Donald Trump, Brazil is facing greater incentive to deepen its trade relations with other partners. Rather than solely focusing on its top trade partner, China, Brazil is intent on shoring up ties with other Asian partners, such as Japan. From 24-27 March President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva visited Tokyo, leading a delegation with government officials as well as private sector representatives, with a strong showing by executives from agribusiness companies.
