BRAZIL: Gol and Azul merger to strengthen aviation industry

If all goes as expected, Brazil may only have two major airlines by early next year. Gol and Azul, the country’s second and third-largest airlines, respectively, have begun merger talks. And the government broadly supports the idea – not because it wants fewer airlines, but because the alternative is worse.
