EL SALVADOR-REGION: Tren de Aragua flights spark crisis
Just before and just after midnight on Saturday 15 March two Airbus A320 flights landed at San Salvador airport, carrying deportees from the US, including 238 Venezuelan citizens, some of whom were allegedly linked to the Tren de Aragua criminal cartel, and 23 Salvadoreans also allegedly from the MS-13 street gang. Their arrival was welcomed by the Salvadorean government, angrily rejected by Venezuela, and may have sparked a major constitutional crisis in the US.
