CARIBBEAN: Counting the cost of climate resilience

Kristalina Georgieva, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), gave opening remarks at a three-day High Level Caribbean Forum on energy transition, hosted by Barbados this week. Underlining that the green energy transition is one of the most “pressing issues for the world and Caribbean”, Georgieva put the estimated costs for the Caribbean region of resilience-building in the face of climate challenges at a staggering US$100bn over the next two decades.
