MEXICO: Boost for judicial reform

Mexico’s supreme court (SCJN) has rejected a proposal to invalidate key parts of the controversial judicial reform passed in September. The proposal, submitted by SCJN Justice Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá, was widely viewed as the final opportunity to reduce the scope of the swingeing reform, given the ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) has moved to shield the reform against future challenges [WR-24-43].
