PERU: Union strikes threaten to disrupt Apec summit
Peru’s umbrella trade union Confederación General de Trabajadores del Perú (CGTP) announced on 5 November that it will join planned strike action against the government led by President Dina Boluarte to protest against the sharp increase in violent crime and extortion in the country from 13-15 November when Lima is paying host to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit.
