BRAZIL: US investigates fighter jet deal
Swedish aircraft manufacturer Saab stated on 10 October that the US Department of Justice (DoJ) has demanded information about the Brazilian government’s acquisition of 36 Gripen fighter jets in 2014. Speaking during a radio interview on 11 October, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva criticised the subpoena on Saab over the Gripen deal as an example of the US “meddling” in another country’s affairs.
