BOLIVIA: Prosecutors consider arresting Morales

The revival of a dormant investigation into Bolivia’s former president Evo Morales (2006-2019) over allegations of statutory rape and human trafficking has taken the country’s soaring political tensions to new heights. As prosecutors mull whether to issue an arrest warrant for Morales after he failed to attend a summons for questioning, the former president’s supporters have once again begun blocking highways and have threatened unprecedented protests if he is arrested.
