*Uruguay’s tourism ministry has released new figures which show the country received 3.84m tourists in 2023, up 55.5% on 2022. This is just 2.8% less than the record reached in 2017. The same figures show that tourism to Uruguay generated revenue of US$1.78bn, up 27.1% on 2022. Argentines accounted for most (1.65m) of tourism arrivals, up 40.8% on 2022, followed by Brazilians (593,057), Europeans (187,549), North Americans (134,668), and Chileans (81,891).
