* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has slightly lowered its GDP growth forecast for 2024 from 1.8% to 1.7%, predicting that growth will accelerate as the year goes on with an increase in investments but with a moderation in household consumption. The BCB also slightly raised its GDP forecast for this year, predicting that Brazil would close 2023 with growth of 3.0%, rather than 2.9%. The BCB’s estimate for accumulated inflation in 2023 also ticked up slightly from its previous estimate at the end of the third quarter, with the bank now forecasting year-end inflation of 4.68%, rather than 4.61%.
