MEXICO: Long road ahead for hurricane recovery

The government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador presented its M$61.3bn (US$3.4bn) recovery and support plan for Guerro state on 1 November following Hurricane Otis, a Category 5 hurricane that devastated coastal areas of the state - including major tourist destination Acapulco - on 25 October. However, extensive damage, underinsurance, and insufficient support will make economic recovery a difficult and protracted process.
