MEXICO: Mexico weathers storm of US auto industry strike

A labour strike in the US automotive sector by workers affiliated to the United Auto Workers (UAW) union began on 14 September. The protest action started at three key assembly plants of Ford, Stellantis, and General Motors (GM) in Michigan, Ohio, and Missouri states, respectively. Some 12,700 workers stopped work in what is the most significant labour action taken in the US in decades, demanding a 40% increase in salaries by September 2027 and significant improvements in labour benefits.
