PERU: Growth forecast slashed

In its September macroeconomic report, Peru’s central bank (BCRP) lowered its forecast for GDP growth for 2023 from 2.2% to 0.9%, although it maintained the projection of 3.0% GDP growth for 2024. Among the reasons cited for the lowered forecast for this year are supply shocks, low levels of business confidence, and challenging climatic conditions that are expected to negatively impact agricultural production for the remainder of the year.
