BRAZIL | Petrobras granted new oil licence. The ministry of mining & energy released a statement on 29 September announcing that the federal environmental regulator (Ibama) has approved a licence for the state-controlled oil company Petrobras to explore oil in offshore blocks in the Bacia Potiguar, a basin off the coasts of the north-eastern states of Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte. The ministry has estimated that the basin’s reserves could contain around 2bn barrels of oil.
