* Mexico’s national social security institute (IMSS) has released a new report showing it had registered 22m jobs as of 31 August, with 86.3% being permanent positions and 13.7% temporary posts. During August, 111,736 jobs were created, representing a 0.5% increase. This follows a loss of 2,168 jobs in the formal sector in the month of July. So far this year, 623,979 jobs have been created. According to the IMSS, this is 215,980 more than the average increase in the last ten years for the same period. Over the last 12 months, 760,009 jobs were created, equivalent to an annual growth rate of 3.6%. The economic sectors with the highest annual job growth percentages are construction (9.7%), transportation and communications (5.4%), and commerce (4.3%).
