* Chile’s central bank (BCCh) has reported a 1.8% increase in the monthly index of economic activity (Imacec), which is considered an advance estimate of GDP, in July as compared with the same month in 2022. This follows five consecutive months of declines in the Imacec, with the growth primarily driven by services (+3.9%), in particular education and, to a lesser extent, production of goods (+3.0%). However, trade was down by 2.5% in yearly terms. In monthly seasonally adjusted terms, the Imacec for July increased by 0.3% compared with the previous month.
