* Chile’s central bank (BCCh) has released new figures which showed that the country’s GDP in the second quarter of 2023 decreased by 0.3% compared with the previous quarter and was down 1.1% in yearly terms, whereas Q1 2023 registered a quarterly increase of 0.4% and a yearly drop of 0.8%. The yearly decline registered for Q2 was primarily attributed to drops in commerce (-5.2%), transportation (-4.3%), mining (-1.2%) and manufacturing (-2.0%). In contrast, year-on-year growth was reported for sectors including electricity, water & gas (9.3%), housing (2.4%), business services (1.7%), personal services (1.4%), and fishing (1.2%).
