BRAZIL: Police probe Bolsonaro allies for jewellery sales
Brazil’s federal police (PF) launched an operation on 11 August, dubbed Operation ‘Lucas 12:2’, part of an investigation into alleged attempts by allies of former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023) to sell high-value jewellery items gifted to him by foreign governments including that of Saudi Arabia, which potentially constituted acts of money laundering. Although the operation has not directly targeted Bolsonaro, Lucas 12:2 marks the latest addition to the legal woes piling up on the former president.
