MEXICO: Pemex accidents further strain financial situation
On 21 July, Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that oil companies that have suffered leaks, explosions or fires will be investigated. He said that the federal attorney general’s office (FGR) and state-run oil company Pemex will investigate whether any such incidents resulted from poor practices or negligence. This comes after Pemex itself suffered major accidents that not only caused significant material and environmental damages but also fatalities.
