MEXICO: US security advisor visits Mexico – again

Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, the US White House homeland security advisor, has made her fair share of trips across the border this year. Sherwood-Randall visited Mexico City (CDMX) for the fourth time since March on 24 July to discuss issues including migration, fentanyl, and arms trafficking with Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and other high-ranking officials. Prior to the meeting, López Obrador stated that Sherwood-Randall’s frequent visits reflected the health of relations between his government and that of US President Joe Biden. However, as with previous visits, several issues concerning bilateral relations were not publicly addressed.
