CHILE: Boric under fire over corruption scandal
Chile’s President Gabriel Boric is scrambling to get on top of a corruption and influence peddling scandal implicating a key ally in his ruling coalition. Boric announced the creation of a commission comprising six experts to investigate accords reached between public officials and private foundations after allegations of wrongdoing surrounding members of Renovación Democrática (RD), the party established by Giorgio Jackson, an ally from Boric’s student days currently serving as social development minister.
