* Peru’s investment promotion agency, ProInversión, has announced that it is planning to launch an international bidding process for a contract regarding the maintenance and operations of one of Lima’s emergency hospitals, Hospital Villa El Salvador, as part of a public-private partnership (PPP). According to state news agency Andina, the project will require an investment of US$114m, and bidding for the contract will begin in the third quarter of 2023. The government is aiming to attract the “best global leaders in the field of hospital management”, so that the hospital, which opened in 2016, is able to improve the services it offers to over 750,000 people in the southern part of Lima. The winner of the contract will be responsible for the maintenance of the hospital buildings, services and equipment, as well as management of clinical and non-clinical teams, and the management of storage facilities, archives, sanitisation, and security. It is currently under consideration whether the contract will also include the replacement of hospital equipment and the improvement of hospital infrastructure, which has undergone normal wear and tear due to use over the past seven years.
