* Mexico’s national confederation of state governors (Conago) has pledged to work with the US to tackle climate change. The governors met with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Change, John Kerry, at an event in Oaxaca state. Following the meeting, Conago head and Oaxaca state governor Salomón Jara Cruz, said they had “exchanged reflections on issues of common interest” as well as “on the current historic moment of friendship and cooperation between Mexico and the United States”. In a statement, US ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar said the meeting between Kerry and the governors had complemented the meeting held the previous day with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his team “to strengthen the climate and clean energies agenda” of US President Joe Biden. Salazar stated that the commitment of the governors to fighting climate change was “encouraging”, adding that he had seen the benefits resulting from this agenda in various states, including greater investments and better paid jobs.
