* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has published the latest consumer price index (IPC), which showed that monthly inflation stood at 6% in January, bringing the annual rate to 98.8%. The monthly rate represents an increase on the 5.1% recorded in December, when
the annual rate stood at 94.8%. In the first month of the year, the steepest monthly increases were in recreation and culture (+9%); communication (+8%); and home, water, electricity, gas & other fuels (+8%). Clothing and footwear (+2.3%); and education (+1.1%) recorded the lowest monthly increases.
