In brief: Nicaragua announces public sector wage increase
*Nicaragua’s Vice President and First Lady Rosario Murillo has announced a 5% wage increase for public officials as of next month. She said that this was expected to cost the state C1.6bn (US$43.99m) and had been budgeted for in the country’s state budget. The latest figures from Nicaragua’s national institute of development information (Inide) show that inflation closed 2022 at 11.59%.
