CUBA: US embassy resumes services as Cuba migration soars

The US embassy in Cuba’s capital, Havana, has resumed full immigrant visa processing for the first time since 2017 following its suspension under former US president Donald Trump (2017-2021). First announced last year, the move reflects strengthening bilateral cooperation under the US administration led by President Joe Biden, which has been forced by efforts to stem the illegal migration of Cubans northwards.
