In brief: Vehicle sales, exports and production up in Mexico
*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for sales of light vehicles, which show that 120,862 vehicles were sold in December 2022, a yearly increase of 24.1%. In December 2022, Mexico exported 243,344 vehicles, up 6.98% from December 2021, and produced 239,536 vehicles, a 4.5% increase on December 2021. According to Inegi, 1.086m vehicles were sold in Mexico last year, a 7.0% increase on 2021, while 3.308m vehicles were produced in the country in 2022, a yearly increase of 9.2%. A total of 2.865m vehicles were exported from Mexico in 2022, representing a 5.9% increase on the previous year.
