A brief history of Colombian violence

All Latin American countries have suffered some kind of violence in the 122 years spanning across both the twentieth, and the early-twenty first centuries, including violence associated with revolutions, civil wars, guerrilla campaigns, and repressive dictatorships. However, Colombia stands out from the crowd because it seems to have experienced more of these things, more intensely, and more closely bunched together over time, than many of its neighbours.
