REGION: Uruguay and Mercosur consider China trade options
When, how, and whether to negotiate a free trade agreement (FTA) with China is emerging as an important issue for the four-country Southern Common Market (Mercosur) trade bloc – formed by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. For Uruguay the answer is yes, now; for Brazil, with a change of government coming, it is wait-and-see; Argentina would rather not; and Paraguay says definitely no.
