*Mexico’s finance minister,
Rogelio Ramírez de la O, has announced that
the government’s anti-inflation plan has reduced inflation by 2.6 percentage points. According to this, annual inflation would stand at 10.76% rather than its current 8.16% without the package against inflation and high prices (Pacic), which was implemented in May. Speaking during a daily press conference, Ramírez de la O also pointed out that inflation in Mexico remained lower than in many other countries, including the US. Under Pacic, stable prices have been maintained for 24 products in Mexico’s basket of basic goods and production of rice, corn and beans has been increased, among other things. The plan will be in place for six months and renewed if necessary.
