In brief: Brazil’s trade surplus shrinks

* Brazil’s economy ministry has announced that the country’s trade surplus in July stood at US$5.44bn, representing a 22.7% year-on-year decline. Exports in July totalled US$29.95bn, with a daily average of US$1.42bn (+23.0%), while imports totalled US$24.51bn with a daily average of US$1.16bn (+41.6%). The largest sectoral increase in exports was agriculture, which registered a 40.2% year-on-year increase.
