*Ecuador’s energy ministry has announced that Energy Minister Xavier Vera has signed a declaration lifting the force majeure imposed on exports of Ecuador’s flagship ‘oriente’ crude  oil, announced on 19 June as anti-government protests led by indigenous organisation Confederación de Nacionalidades Indígenas del Ecuador (Conaie), damaged oil output. The protests were called off on 30 June after Conaie reached an agreement with the government led by President Guillermo Lasso. Ítalo Cedeño, the director of Ecuador’s state oil company, Petroecuador, has said that the 18 days of intense civil unrest from 13-30 June cost the company approximately US$512.9m although earlier this month Vera announced oil production has returned to 90% of levels registered before the unrest.
