MEXICO: Jesuit killings highlight security challenges

The murder of two Jesuit priests at a church in a remote area of Chihuahua state has drawn condemnation from state and federal governments in Mexico, international human rights organisations, and the head of the Catholic church. The killings took place in Cerocahui, a village in the violence-stricken Sierra Tarahumara mountainous region of Chihuahua. The incident is a reminder of the grip that drug trafficking organisations (DTOs) hold in such areas and of the dangers that communities living there face daily.
