In brief: Brazil’s gov’t pushes on with investment drive

* Brazil’s infrastructure minister, Marcelo Sampaio, has said that the federal government has secured R$100bn (US$19.5bn) from the auction of infrastructure concessions since President Jair Bolsonaro’s government entered power in January 2019. The government is aiming to rake in a further R$100 by the end of 2022 by selling 15 airports, leasing 19 port terminals, and awarding concessions for eight roadbuilding projects and six railway projects. Upcoming auctions will seek to privatise São Paulo’s Congonhas and Campo de Marte airports, the airport in the northern city of Belém (Pará state), Itajaí port (Santa Catarina), and the ports of São Sebastião and Santos in São Paulo state.
